Lily went to the doctor this week for her one year check up. We were happy to find out she has a Gutzler head, almost as big as her cousins Audrey and Kate, in the 92%. She weighed in at 19 lbs and 2 oz, only the 20%, but was 50% for height. She was really sweet and playful. The doctor carried Lily around the office as she looked for the nurse because she was so sweet.

New birthday gear
Lily got a package in the mail from Great Uncle Ralph and Aunt Sonya. Train Gear! Maybe she should be a model for the BNSF.

Lily's birthday party
Some of Lily’s friends came over to help celebrate her first birthday. She had chocolate cupcakes with pink frosting and little pearls. They played toys, had snacks, opened presents, sang Happy Birthday, ate cupcakes, and then played outside. Chelsie, Givey, Caroline, and Bering just moved back from Germany so it was fun to have them at the party.

Park time with Johnny and Oliver
We go to the park a lot with Kate, Johnny and Oliver. Johnny and Oliver are more adventurous than Lily but she enjoys watching them. Kate also brings better snacks.

Fun with GG
GG came to stay with Lily for a week while Mark was working in Skagway. They read books, went shopping, and had fun playing toys.
Winter Fun
In celebration of spring, I thought I should post how we celebrate winter in Alaska. It was cold but with a few great snowsuits, Lily still got out quite a bit.
Hike at Reflection Lake
My boss Mike gets me excited about all sorts of Alaskan adventures so we set out to see one of his recent hot spots. We did a morning hike at Reflection Lake and it was beautiful. We saw lots of birds and the mountain views were fantastic.

Finally crawling
Lily is a very content baby and that translated in to her being very content not crawling. She could get around really well scooting on her bottom. But finally the cat was too tempting and she had to get her. Once she got crawling, she was really quick.
Finally a blog...
I have these wonderful friends from grad school who I have learned many things from. Besides helping me through many class projects and a higher ed law final, these girls are super creative. For a few years, I have been following their blogs and learning all sorts of great things. I thought I should blog too to keep everyone up-to-date on Lily's latest and greatest developments, but who has the time? Well, this weekend we are in Vegas and while the rest of the town is whooping it up, we are napping, showering, and setting up blogs. Lily deserves a blog they said. Indeed. She is a cutey. I will do my best to post some highlights from her first year, and then on May 19, Lily turns one and her life will be captured via blogger.
